Le Havre (2011)
A film by a Finnish director but set in France and in French, this simple and contemporary story concerns Marcel (an impoverished shoeshiner) and his wife. They get involved with a young illegal immigrant, Idrissa, and take him into their home. This is gloriously colourful, combining drama and comedy and a modern day fable. It has also been described as a feel-good and wonderful, big-hearted comedy”.
